National Account Sales Manager - Walmart & Sam's Club

Diageo has an outstanding opportunity for a National Account Sales Manager role supporting Walmart and Sam's Club based in Bentonville, AR! This is a highly visible role responsible for the selling, communication, and strategic development of Diageo's Spirits business.

You will partner closely with a cross functional team of shopper marketing, category development, sales analytics, e-Commerce, insights and local distributor teams to deliver plans that resonate with each customer. You will shape the account strategy and drive the annual planning for these customers. This position leads all bi-monthly & quarterly programming development, innovation sell in and communication of activities to ensure achievement of our business goals. You are the subject matter authority within the Mass and Club Channels and a positive influencer across a broad group of collaborators. Pivotal to this role is driving promotion, distribution & visibility. You will collaborate with the local activation team and distributor key account managers to ensure plan delivery, local market execution, and sharegrowth.

  • Deliver against annual Volume, Net Revenue, Price Mix, and Share targets and lead appropriate measurement & evaluation of investment.
  • Develop and implement annual operating plan for each chain, aligning customer and Diageo growth goals and opportunities, prioritizing accounts based on overall opportunities.
  • Develop positive relationships within each customer
  • Merchant's, E-Comm, Marketing, Operations and Replenishment teams.
  • Develop, sell-in, and communicate quarterly programming plans, assortment reviews, innovation opportunities and customer-specific initiatives that support the overall annual plan.
  • Lead the communication process across a cross-functional collection of Shopper marketing, Sales analytics, Category development, E-Comm, Diageo Performance Management, Diageo Chain Directors, and the Distributor partners at market level
  • Conceptualize to develop ground up, solutions for balanced growth drivers within both retailers.
  • Work closely with Diageo sales team, Performance Management, and Distributor leadership teams to drive detailed execution of customer initiatives and develop processes and tools for metrics tracking.
  • Lead opportunity and risk assessment process throughout the year to ensure course correction as needed to hit the annual plan; Deliver on all monthly BPM requirements
  • Develop and present business reviews and channel opportunities to Senior Leadership Team
  • Participate in the design and develop of customized annual plans using priority sales drivers to deliver Diageo financial and volume targets. The spirits annual plan will include brand level sales and marketing activity with extensive coordination with the key wholesalers.
  • Assist in Handling A&P/Trade spends, ensuring budgets are strategically aligned with brand and customer strategies and delivering value targets. Lead communication with local markets to ensure alignment between target spend and existing local spends. Review planned & committed trade spend quarterly with the Team Director and Finance Manager.
  • Build positive relationships with distributor national account teams, local market teams, and category development teams. Develop customer management routines and cadences.

  • 4 Year College Degree Required (MBA Preferred) with specific experience in an expansive regional or national account CPG or 3 Tier category in a diverse beverage alcohol distributor network preferred (Open, Control and Franchise)
  • Strong familiarity with Mass and Club Channel through fast paced category, preferably in a DSD environment.
  • Passion for winning, communicating, and influencing skills internally and externally.
  • Fact based selling skills and business analytics & analysis skills to identify trends and opportunities across the chain customer base. Solid understanding of Retail Link, IRI or Nielsen analytics.
  • Position will require frequent travel for customer account calls and distributor meetings to ensure local market / wholesaler collaboration
  • Shown success record of influencing and negotiating customer strategy and execution.
